Anyone here use Progressive Snapshot?

It's a device by Progressive that plugs into obd and monitors time of driving, mileage driven, and braking characteristics. It's monitored for 30 days to determine your baseline and then five more months and then you take it out, or something like that, but your discount of up to 30% stays in place--assuming you've earned it.

I pay very little with Geico and doubt anybody could offer much of a discount beyond that, but in one of my cars this would work well (in the other I drive faster).

They would probably drop me if I put this thing in my car.

i declined to get it when i switched to progressive. mostly because they would prob drop me.

I switched from Geico actually and for the same coverage progressive costs me 1/2 as much

Same here, and I actually did use it. Geico end up save me more money than Progressive.

6 months of driving like a grandma would drive me crazy. Hmm, maybe it would be OK to install this before winter? Eeveryone drives slow then. 🙂

Id have to remove it every time some asshat pulled up to the light acting like he is somebody. Im sure the missing 1/8 mi between logs would clue them in to it being removed and not just shut down or parked.

The only car that it wouldnt matter in, doesn't have OBD (95).

newer OBD2 can pick up VIN's right? so swapping wouldn't be a valid idea.

How would they know if you disconnect it? VS say turn off engine. I know OBD doesn't get power when key is out of ignition. AFAIK OBD doesn't keep track of actual mile driven. It just relays the info from the speed sensor to the cluster.

Speed doesn't count against you. Braking hard does. Driving 12am-4am does. Driving long trips does. But speed and acceleration have no bearing the discount. But braking hard means you are probably following too close at times and will get into accidents.

100mph+ and still a 30% discount.

Besides the braking... This would not work for me... I make the 4 hour drive back to my parents almost twice a month. As a college student I find myself in situations where I need to drive in the middle of the night :\
