That is a very location, company and equipment dependent question. Any accuracy you get in an answer will be just luck.

IDSL comes in one speed flavor, and one only: 144kbps. Why? Simple: IDSL is DSL over ISDN. ISDN is two 64kbps bearer, or B channels, plus one 16kbps D channel (used for signalling (i.e. off hook, ring, etc.). So 64 + 64 + 16 = 144kbps, because there's no need for call signalling for a data line. :)

DarkManX, who are you ordering it through?

A guy I work with is in Week 9 of his attempt to get IDSL service. With a 56K modem, he can't evem get 28.8 because his phone lines are so bad. Right now, Phoenix Networks (who he ordered from) is trying to straighten out everything with Northpoint (their DSL provider) who is trying to resolve an issue with Bell Atlantic (local phone company). Apparently the three are getting together this week to resolve the issues that are holding things up.

He is anxious to get it working. 144/144 is better than the 21,600 that he's been gettting for a year or so.

I am getting IDSL delivered the second week in August... and it will only give me 144... but better than 56k modem... you must be very far from a central office... I think I am about 20,000 feet myself!

PCaddict my phone line is fine, depending on the ISP I can connect at up to 52,000 on my lucent winmodem. I ordered the serive from www.goibsdsl.com. its only going to cost me 39.00$ a month, and since im spliting it with my bro-in-law its gonna be even less. They will give me a 3com modem, and free instalation if I prepay for a year.

PCaddict if your still interested in that car let me know.

Let me know how it works out for you. I'll have to keep that in mind for people who can't get "regular" DSL via BA.

I have flashcom/northpoint idsl now... It was a real pain to set up..took them like 3 trips and 2 months.. but it works great now for what I use it for. I ping my gateway for 24 ms and usualy get like 30-60 ms ping on most counter-strike and unreal servers, so its great for games. Downloads are still a pain. I probably get around 15 - 16 kb/s download usually and about the same upload. Still over 3x faster then my old 56k though, plus I don't have to wait for it to dial up every time I boot up and doens't disconnect.
