Anyone here use Google Music on iOS? Taking tons of data

I decided to try out an iphone 6 last week, coming from an android phone I already had Google music all access and a bunch of stuff uploaded on there so I was planning on using that still on the iphone. Anyways after a couple days of using it I get a warning that I've gone over my data limit and another gig was being added. I didn't think much of it because I usually go over in a month but then a couple days later I get a warning saying I've gone over the extra Gb they added. I check my usage from google music and it was at 1.6Gb already which seems kind of ridiculous, I only use it to and from work (about 15-20min) and I used it when I drove out to see some people on the weekend (like 40 min each way). This seems way higher than it was on Android, does anyone else have experience with Google music on iOS, I'd like to know if the data usage is always this high.

I tried both~, I think with android you have more caching. So lets say I run into the tunnel or something where there's no signal, i still have a good amount of tunes that I can forward through compared to an iphone 5s where it would cut out after about 1.5-2 songs.


All I do is use google music now compared to before where I had it on the phone.
I go through give or take 5gb a month.

Same problem here after switching from Android to iPhone. Did you ever work it out I just received a 6gb hit but I don't understand how?

Does any music get stored locally on an iPhone?

I never figured out why it was happening, but it doesn't seem to cache songs as aggressively (or at all) with google music on iOS. Even ignoring the caching google music seemed to take a lot more data than spotify regardless of the song quality. I ended up storing a lot of music locally since I had the 64gb version but I've sold that and gone back to android so I don't really worry about it anymore.
