but i never ever ever got the 100+KB/s ppl talk about, though, even with popular files?

ive only seen over 100k/s once and that was on a 2 meg file someone on here hoasted.

i generally get around 50k/s just finished teh Ninja scroll Dl averaged around 60k/s

The BBC released an article which AFAIK scared all the good BT sites into reclusion. Don't know for how long though. :(

Proper iso rips that aren't renamed games. Why people do that is beyond me, afterall it wastes their bandwidth too.

Of course, if everyone goes and dials down their upload speed, it defeats the purpose of distributing the downloading burden and we might as well go back to downloading stuff from overloaded centralized servers.

Depending on the files you're trying to get, download speed may very well exceed upload speed. This is particularly true for "older" files, and it will very likely be true even as the download process proceeds, since the opportunity to serve more chunks of the file will likely grow faster than the opportunity to download more of them. Especially if people are artificially cutting back their upload bandwidth.

I agree with the fact that the release of the throttle-able BT clients has killed many of the fast connections we used to get. I personally DO use the throttle client because I'm capped at 18KBps upload and there'd be no way for me to surf if all 18KBps were taken up... just give yourself 5-10KBps and give the rest away... don't throttle down all the way to 3KBps.
