Torrent is great, but they are having lots of problems with the sites lately. Try looking on IRC... #bittorrent... they have a lot of people that can link to you stuff. :)

I got Redhat 9 with it the day it came out, but otherwise I haven't used it. I don't understand how you can search or find files with it. The only way I've been able to use it was through a link on the bittorrent site.

Can you search for files on it or something?

I used it 3 times... all 3 times I was completely dissappointed.
I'm done with bittorrent. It's worthless.

I had a friend at work say the same thing about bit torrent, but I personally think it's great. Guess it just depends on who is seeding what when...

As with many filesharing apps, it's only as good as the people who's sharing the file. The sites can only put up what people are willing to have for downloads.

If you want to download a lot of new releases.. i would look into your ISP if they provide newsgroups. You can do an quick search on here and get the info you need to get yourself started.

I had the same problem too, my upload was exceeding my download. You need to get one of the versions labeled "experimental" or "BT++"

Those let you throttle the upload and download bandwidth. Works great for me now.

I'm at school right now, so I have no newsgroup provider through them...I was paying for one for awhile, but I stopped because I wasn't using it enough.

Please use the experimental client if you need to control upload speeds, BT++ stops uploading as soon as you finish downloading. Its fine if you are at the computer and need more bandwith, then by all means stop uploading, but if you are not there then please help seed the torrents.

ive actually used bt experimental and one other alternate (runs off dos window) ...the latter was horrible, and the experimental one apparently does not throttle correctly... i set the max to 3KB/s and it still churns at 11KB/s. o well, guess ill have to give BT++ a try.

but i never ever ever got the 100+KB/s ppl talk about, though, even with popular files?

I did not know that about B++. I used experimental and assumed B++ was the same.
