Anyone here use a handheld/ipod to record university lectures?

I know a lot of people are against recording lectures, saying that it's a waste of time to go back through the audio of the lecture, but I don't intend to re-listen to all my lectures. I typically write the rough time beside my points and if later when reviewing I dont understnad something I'd like to be able to refer back to the lecture to hopefully get a better idea, we can only write so much in a limited amount of time!

My iPod has a line out. Nothing for a line-in or mic. But it's also a Gen2....have you ever looked into the feasibility of this?

BTW, even if you could, I'm against it - at least with the stuff I'm working on studying, many of the prof's discussions are linked to what he's working out on the board. You'd be just as lost with audio only as with no audio at all. You'd probably be more frustrated too.

Do a Froogle search for a shotgun microphone. They make some fairly compact ones that you could use for better reception, even from the back of the classroom.
