you should post that in the ATOT Food thread. I've never had it though. Picture looks tasty but every time I try something that looks good from a fast food joint, it winds up looking like crap.

I wish we had a Dairy Queen here. Apparently we actually had one way back in the day, like when my mom was a kid. The actual building was still standing as of several years ago, it was a Mac's convenience store but was recently demolished to build a hotel.

Dammit, now I'm hungry for a banana split. ROAD TRIP!... to Chelmsford... only 3 hours away. lol. That's practically a tradition though, if traveling in that direction, you HAVE to stop there.

I have a dream I will live next to a dairy queen and just shuffle over to the DQ and get a malt.

I mean... the DQ police ain't gonna bust you if you happen to combine a banana with some ice cream and hot fudge at home.

Does DQ serve malts up there? I don't think they do here, but I could be wrong.

Huh, it looks like I'm wrong. Will have to look again next time I'm there, I normally just get a burger or chicken strips.

I sometimes do it, but it's not the real thing. :p

Actually, can foods be patented? That would suck if a company decided to patent a common food. Like if McDonald's patented the burger or something. I don't imagine it is possible otherwise we'd hear a lot about it.

Yea but it doesn't have that delicious melt in your mouth partially hydrogenated soybean oil.

Might be pretty hard to screw up funnel cake.
I am guessing they will be frozen prepackaged products that are simply reheated.

Fresh funnel cakes are awesome but they need to be fresh and you can tell when they are not usually.

Watching them made fresh at fairs or such is where it's at as omfg they are so good but so bad for you especially when you load them with a ton of sugar as they should be. :D

I honestly have never had a frozen one, fairs and Magic Mountain are the only places I have had them.

That reminds me, I ate there the other day & was disappointed in literally everything I got. I need to update that thread, haha.

DQ is definitely not the same it used to be. My parents used to take me there after every single little league game back in the day. Brazier burger, fries, strawberry banana blizzard. SO good every single time. I looked forward to it. Unfortunately that local DQ shut down (as did many others) in the late 90's earlier 2000's IIRC. Fast forward to a few years ago when we were driving down to Florida. We were so excited to see a DQ so we pulled off to hit it up. I don't remember exactly where we were... but it was so bad. Everything was bad. There wasn't even grill marks on the burgers anymore. It was a sad day. We had to actually go somewhere else to get some food ... it was that bad.

Fried dough and custard and drizzling some strawberry syrup on something isn't exactly fine dining of course :)

It's been so long since I've been to a DQ I really can't have an honest opinion I guess. I think the last time I hit one was Indiana in the 70's.

Yum. Haven't tried it, don't know where to find a DQ locally -- Google is hard.

Last time I went to DQ, my cynical coworker was shitting all over it and asking why Warren Buffet would invest in such a shitty company. I enjoyed my meal...

I don't eat dairy cream cause trans fat. Shit kill you dead.
Depends who you listen to, some say trans fats are good for you. :p

But I tend to fall in the "Everything in moderation" group. Have poutine on one day, and ice cream on the other. Maybe try to have a banana (split) on another.

The biggest issue with dairy is not dairy itself but the way cows are raised. Grass fed cows are loaded with omega 3's and fat soluble vitamins whilst conventional cows are loaded with pesticides from the feed and hormones.

Fat stores either poisons or vitamins. Or both.
