Anyone here take Claritin Allergy & Congestion?

I went to the doctor with some awful congestion that had been lasting for a few months. He prescribed me 10 days of Claritin Allergy and Congestion which cleared me up perfectly. I don't know if I was supposed to keep taking it or not, but after they ran out my congestion started to come back, so I bought more. I've been taking them for about a month now, but they've started to stop working.

My question is: are you supposed to take these pills for a long period of time or are they just a temporary fix?

I always thought they're for seasonal allergies and there are much better solutions for prolonged allergies
