Anyone here take anti-depressants? (Zoloft, Paxil, Lithium, etc)

Just curious how your mileage varies with them... I don't feel like I need to take any of this stuff (but I know I have a problem with depression); however, I'm curious how medication has affected anyone with a mood disorder.

Why not get into some therapy? My dad missed a few of my little league games when I was younger, and I still haven't recovered.

I was prescribed Celexa around two years ago.

It took about three weeks for them to take effect, but they did help. The biggest change I remember was driving to work one evening, windows down, radio up... And suddenly realizing that I was happy. And for no reason at all. It was the first time I remembered ever feeling like that. It was quite a shock.

Why I quit taking them I don't know, but I haven't taken them in months.

Not rich, true. Many anti-depressants have that as a side effect.

Celexa was another one I was trying to think of... how do you feel emotionally now that you're not taking them?

I used to take Paxil and it was just made me feel very mello. It just made me feel relaxed even though the effect wasn't that great.

Lithium is NOT an antidepressant.
Lithium will probably depress you.
Lithium will make food taste differently.
Lithium is generally evil.

Ask your doctor about trying you on Wellbutrin.

Talk to your doc about it, he/she will be able to recommend a good medicine for you.

I have been on Celexa for several months now. I have noticed "performance" as a side effect. :( Other than that it's been good.

Smiling always helps!

Seriously though someone I used work with took that stuff. Initially makes you feel good for no reason then wears off and then you feel bad for no reason. Think it was Paxil.

My MD prescribed Paxil and then Celexa for me after my recent accident.

Too many side effects. I dropped them in favor of St. John's Wort. Works great for me with no side effects (that I can notice).

She also prescribed 3,200 mg a day of Ibuprofen as an anti-inflamatory. Too much nausea. I did some research and found that the herbal anti-inflamatory Ginger/Curcumin/Bromelin combination works far better (less pain and stiffness) with far less undesirable side effects.

I never realized how many people are depressed, why? Is there a particular reason or event that started the depression?
