Anyone here run R/C cars?

I am buying my first Nitro(Rustler) and am wondering where does everyone order from online? Am looking to replace the body with something better and ordering some other misc parts. I know some bigger cities have hobby shops but not where I'm at. So most might buy local.

Yea, I used to go to R/C races when I was younger and living at home. Very entertaining hobby. Sadly, I cannot recommend an online retailer for parts.

I only have one R/C here in Austin with me, but it is the best offroader I have ever had. It is a baja-style 4x4, nitro, and fast as hell. You might be able to buy a real car for what I have invested, albeit a sh!tty car.

Tower Hobbies is the place to go for a lot of things. Its like Walmart for RCs.

I have a brushless (electric) Rustler and a brushless Revo I converted from nitro. YouTube vid of my Revo. It will change what you think of electrics. :)

G/L with the Rustler, I really like mine. If you want so find some good hop ups for it, look for Fast Lane Machine (FLM) to start.

I got into this a few years ago, then I moved and kind of let it all go. I need to get back into RC, that stuff is a blast.

Yeah, I had an electric Rustler and used Tower Hobbies almost exclusively, along with the local hobby shop. Rustlers are great! :)

I remember dealing with Tower Hobbies thru mail order catalogs back in 1991. I raced electric 1/10th scale off road and paved oval for 5 years. I still have my heavily modded RC-10LSO oval car, Futaba 3PB radio, Competition Electronics turbo charger, and a slew of other goodies in my storage closet.

I remember taking a trip to Louisana with some friends in the mid 90's for a sanctioned race that took place in one of the veledromes. The banking on that sucker was insane, and when the cars were on the back straight you had to squint to see them since the track was so large. The stock class I was in was pretty packed and we were hitting 50 mph. Some cars in the modified class were doing well over 70mph.

I've always wanted an RC car/aircraft vehicle, but i've always been broke or had something better to spend my money on :p - Indoor helicopters would be fun to tease my dogs with.

I run a Novak Burshless set up in my Rustler (it says Emaxx on the body for I was going to but it on my old Emaxx but it looked better on the rustler with the smaller tires, gave a more realistic look, IMO).

I love the bushless set up. My son has a stock rustler gets 5 minutes if he is lucky, I get 25 minutes+ run time and wheelies all the time. Only thing I did to mine aside of the motor, wheels, and body was a full bearing kit (op make sure to do this if you havent already to the front and back, get bigger front a-arms to take the bigger bearings as well), and a metal Idler in the tranny. Other then that the rest is stock. Handles like a dream with the set up the way I have it, and takes a beating and a half and begs for more. Solid trucks these are.

I get ALL my parts from Towerhobby.com. Ship fast, prices are right on, so no need to go any where else for me. Huge selection of hop up parts.

Just be sure to pick up this rear brace and wheelie bar combo from this guy.
Hand made, solid as a rock, and protects your rear frame stuff from damage as well if you buy the full package. I have it and it is a must to keep the truck s rear wheels planted on the ground. And it was actually because of his videos that sold me on a rustler for he beats the living crap out of one and it never broke as he was slamming it into his kids stuff in his back yard. That sold me on the truck right there that it was one tuff mother of a machine, and it is, I have only broken one shock since owning it almost 2 seasons.

ALL Duratrax RC trucks and cars come with a 1 year warranty, just contact them and they will replace ANYTHING that breaks, no questions asked. I know, because I broke a lot of the front body mounts on my Electric evader.

As long as you have the receipt and it been within a years time, contact them asap and get it replaced for nothing.

i have a revo and a sportswerks buggy, and if i buy online, it's usually through tower. after you buy from them they send you crazy catalogs forever...
even though a lot of people are going brushless, i'm still a big fan of nitro. nothing more fun then a great handling low weight, over powered buggy screaming around a track.

haha, bef0re clicking on the link I knew you were talking about the Swami Bar. Great stuff, although I've actually managed to bend mine pretty well, but its saved my motor 100x over. Its easy to launch a hi-speed brushless vehicle to good heights, but a 10ft drop at 30+mph onto the backend is just going to hurt. :)

:camera:Uh OH!

I've done a fair amt of upgrades, inc the ones you've listed, but added an aluminum front bulkhead and alu front C-hubs, both from FLM. Added my own widefront arm conversion as well. Other than that, just Ti tie rods w/ ball ends, and its otherwise stock. Those parts pretty much shore up any weaknesses I've had w/ it, and now its near indestructable.

Yeah I am/was that same way. Then I realized I have everything I need for my PC for some time to come. I could use a video card upgrade but I got to thinking Crysis and UT3 is a little while off and those are really all that interests me.

Instead of spending the $200+ on a video card upgrade I thought I would get me a toy to play with over the summer. I only paid $115 shipped for a Rustler thats barely broken in. I couldn't turn it down for that price.

I used to have some RC cars back in the day. I had a RC-10 graphite, A Kyosho Maxxum. I also had a Tamiya Newman Porsche 956 that went 60+ mph (but was completely uncontrollable). In stock form it had a normal Mabucci 540 motor and handled well, but I installed a Novak ESC, an 8 cell battery pack, a Trinity Big Daddy drag racing motor (50,000 rpm) and the biggest pinion gear that would fit. That thing was amazingly fast but tended to get airborne.
