Black Hawk Down indeed (READ THAT FIRST)

then Inside Delta Force

Then Rougue Warrior by Richard Marcinko

In The Company of Heroes Micheal Durrant

One Perfect Op by "Snake"

there are a lot more ones that i have read that are very good...but those are the best

You might also be interested in "Delta Force" by Charlie Beckwith, the man who initiated the development of SOF-D.

A couple of others would be "Immediate Action" and "Bravo Two Zero", both by 'Andy McNabb'.

Oh yes I read Delta Force...forgot about that...awesome book also!

bravo two zero...while a good book is BS...andy mcnabb lied a lot about what happened...

official SAS and british reports will prove it

Brought back from the dead.... wanted to add some titles...

For information on SEAL's, there is a 3 book series from Dick Couch:
The Warrior Elite
The Finishing School
and Down Range

The Warrior Elite follows a class as it goes through BUD/S, The Finishing School follows SQT, or SEAL Qualification Training, a much less well know component of earning the SEAL Trident, and Down Range (Which I have yet to read) I assume follows there deployment in theatre.

Another good series of books is about LRP's(Long Range Patrols) and LRRP's (Long Range Recon Patrols) in Vietnam, a 3 books series from 3 different authors, books 1, 2, and 3 in the Six Silent Men series. These guys were badass, and were in the lineage of the 75th Infantry, Rangers, when there wasn't an offical unit.

Another book on Vietnam Special Operations would be SOG by John Plaster.

Another good book is called Commandos by Douglas Waller. Goes into details about SEALs, SF Qualification Course, and AF Special Operations Pilots flying the Pave Low.

Yet another good book is Masters of Chaos, a recent history of US Army Special Forces. I am still reading this, and find it a pretty good book.

Dave

Wild Bill and Intrepid: Donovan, Stephenson, and the Origin of CIA by Thomas F. Troy

not a military book but It's a good read 🙂

Cheers,
Aquaman

I read Rogue Warrior by Marchinko. It was pretty good. Then I read another book (crap, can't remember the name) by a different SEAL who served with Marchinko who said Marchinko was full of it and didn't do all that he claims in his book.

Read In The Company of Heroes by Michael Durrant after you read Black Hawk Down. Oh, and if anyone wants to read an awesome book, not about Special Ops guys, but about true military heros, read Flyboys by James Bradley. Great eye-opening book.

Probably 'Combat Swimmer, Memoirs of a Navy SEAL' by Robert Gormly. I think he took over command of DEVGRU after Marcinko got into trouble.
