Anyone here play X3?

I just picked up the humble bundle even though I already own X3 reunion.

I am looking at getting back into the game but I always played with mouse/kb before and was wondering if anyone can suggest a decent flight controller to buy. Don't really want to blow a ton of money on one but if the cheaper ones are crap I will pony up for an expensive one.

Thoughts???

Unfortunately, flight controllers that work with windows 64 bit are hard to find. I have 2 flight controllers that work great with XP 32, but because of the lack of updated driver support, they do not work on Win 64. Also, due to the lack of space sims, not many companies even make them anymore. That said, with Chris Robert's new space sim and the new x world game that may change. Just search the internet for flight controller that might work. Also, some third party sites have drivers that might update some flight controllers to work with 64 bit systems.

Of course, I do not know your system specs,,,always a good idea to post them. I'm sure others will have some ideas as well.

Look into Saitek controllers...they may have 64 bit driver support. Amazon sells one for 107.00.🙂

The newer versions of X3 (TC & AP) use mouse control similar to freelancer. Might want to just try it out before buying a controller....you might prefer it.

Sorry about the lack of specs....

I5 2500K
8GB RAM
GTX560TI
Windows 7 64bit
(not sur ethe other specs matter)

A few questions if you don't mind...

*When were your controllers made? Is it likely to buy one in 2013 and find out it is only compatible with a 32bit operating system?

*I am not having any trouble finding controllers, seems there are still quite a few on the market. I buy most my stuff from here and they seem to have a reasonable choice. http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-hardware/all/keyboards-mice/pc-joystickshttp://

*I was looking at something like this.
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/thru...-for-pc-and-ps3-programmable-12-button-5-axis

I would like to try one out before I go and blow £200 on one (which will probably happen if I play star citizen) also I don't want to waste money on one now to find out that it isn't compatible with SC when it is launched.

Thoughts?

I've been playing X3 Reunion for a bit and like it a lot. Are TC and AP mostly the same thing or is there a reason I should upgrade to those?

As far as I know they are all pretty much the same game, they just add a few new features and make them look prettier. Obviously they add a bit more story aswell but the game is pretty much the same.

What happened to X1 and X2?

I got those as part of the humble bundle as well but they really look dated now, I might get round to playing them some time but as they are basically the same gam as X3 I figured I would jump straight into that.

i tried playing X3: Reunion the other day

i didnt understand anything... I TELL YOU... ANYTHING!

the game just throws you into the space and you are so clueless about what needs to be done... yesterday i started watching youtube videos to understand it

IS TC and AP stand alone exp or DLC?

It took me a lot of reading in various threads and fan-created encyclopedias to figure out how to get started with the game. It's probably the purest type of sandbox game that I have played.

And yet who would have thought that developing an empire built on space burgers and slave trafficking would be so fun?

Nothing quite like building space fuel and space weed complexes in neutral space just outside of Terran control in X3:TC and raking in millions, then equipping a bunch of capital ships to go on sector wrecking expeditions.
