the guy I play here loves setting intricate traps with bombs, his spy, and other pieces. It's literally like playing a game of chess.

This one trap he set here:

X's are bombs, 1 is his 1, F is his flag (which was on the back row)

So basically I hit a couple bombs in the area and figure 'OK this is where his flag is". I take out the bomb at the tip of the thing, and figure I have the game won. Next turn I attack with the same 8...and he says "1". I flipped. Great trap. he went on a rampage with the 1 after that.

That's a horrible strategy. He locks up his 1 for the entire game, while your 1 and 2 are wreaking on any piece that moves. He could accomplish pretty much the same thing by putting a 7 in there. And what if you enter from one of the lower X's? His 1 just sits there and waves hello while you CTF FTW.

Stratego caused the biggest fights between my brothers; they took to hiding the others' 1s and 2s to try to get an advantage...
