Anyone here play SH2 for xbox?

I'm kinda stuck. Near the beginning when I am at the old apt's. I found a fire escape key but don't know where to use it.
Also, there's a bag of trash or something stuck in the trash shute. It says I need to throw something down on top of itbut What can I use to do this?
