I know I'm about 4 years late, but I just got into this game. It reminds me of F-19 Stealth Fighter back in the say.

Anyone have any good info, tips, files, or anything?

Pocatello,

Do you have any info on the iBeta or Realism patches? A quick Google query didn't turn up much.

Falcon 4.0 was a great game! You won't believe how many mods and patches are out. Check out http://f4ut.frugalsworld.com/ right away and get the SuperPak.

Edit: If you have any specific questions about stuff just PM me and I'll try to answer them.

Thanks! I'll have to wait until May 9th when I get my modem set up. I'm playing a campaign with 100% realism, and it doesn't seem... well... hard enough. I have problems landing, but I thought 100% realism would be terrible. Maybe I should set the difficulty all the way up and have the computer put me in my place ;)

Cluster bombs with CCIP rule....

You running any patches or anything? The orginal game was buggy as heck, and you'll almost certainly need a fresh install to use something like the SuperPak.

You only need the official patch from Microprose to run ie 1.08 version. The iBeta and Realism patch fix some AI problems, missile and other weapons performance become more realistic (You can evade missile). The official 1.08 version has a bug that is kind of like a cheat, if you bomb an enemy airfield, that airfield will remain unoperational forever (before the patch, bombing airfields does not reduce enemy air traffic at all). With the iBeta patch or any other realism patch, the airfield needs a certain time to repair (depends on the damage you or your wing have done). That's just one of bug fix. There are all kinds of add-on to for look of the cockpit.

Lol, no. I need internet access. I just have to restart the game every two missions. One thing that bothers me is the other pilots will be like "Falcon 4-1 Bingo Fuel" over and over and over so that I can't radio in things.

That and CCRP bombing doesn't work. CCIP is better anyway :)

I'd like to join an internet flight once I get better (and learn to land!)

I hope you get that internet access soon so you can get the patches. :) I think some of them change the gameplay noticeably, especially with the AI.

May 9th :)

It's worth saying that having a decent joystick made a huge diff. My old joystick made the game unplayable. It skips sometimes, for like 5 minutes (lots og "macroskips" as they put it). Is this fixed in later versions, or is it just my problem?

Thanks for all of your responses. Nice to know that this is still an active game.

Yeah, I have a CH Products F-16 Combatstick and I like it a lot.

I haven't played F4 in a few months, but I remember getting the little micropauses a lot too. I think rebooting my system would help some. I have 256 MB of RAM, so I doubt I really need more..

Please tell me this is a rendering! It's a "random screenshot" from a Falcon4 site, but I haven't played the game in three years, so it could very well have improved to this level since then. :) Man, I gotta re-install it, maybe once SP3 comes out I'll go for it.

edit-Haha, if that's ANY game, I'm gonna have to buy it!

Wow, that is very impressive! I dunno if it's real or not. I do know that it isn't a shot of the intro movie, that has an A-10 and MiG-29 in it.

<< OT - What's a good, hopefully cheap :) joystick that would be good for this game? I have it, but have never installed it or done anything with it. >>

I have a $35 Logitech WingMan Extreme. It has a throttle and you can twist the joystick to make it act like a rudder. I've had it for about a month. I like it.

I got Super Pack 2. I run in, and it says insufficient space to expand data. That's gotta be wrong because I have plenty. I choose continue, and every operation it tries to run fails. What's up?

Getting kina frustrated :(

You might want to see if there's anyone on that site you can e-mail and ask.

Did you install it to a clean installation of F4?

Sorry I can't help you more, but I've never actually run the SuperPak.

I got it to work on my new system. Man, the Super Pak is very, very cool. You can be on either side, and fly any airplane (Tankers, Su-27s, An-28s). Spiffy.

Sweet, I'll have to get it installed as soon as I get my new computer in a month.

Have you tried the Iron Fortress campaign yet? I've been too scared to try it. :)

I have Falcon 4.0, but haven't played it in a while. Does anyone know if it is compatible with WIndows XP?

You mean there are other campaigns? :)

Yeah, I got brave and tried it. I'm an air to gound kind of guy myself (I like going after runways, AAA, and SAMs), but we just couldn't keep up. My missions towards the end literally lasted about 5 mintes (armored divisions just over the next hill!). We lost after 4 days.

Oh well. Fun anyway!

Yeah. I'm using XP now, and it's more stable than it was with Win98SE. You should try the super pak.
