So I've played a bit and set it up with a wheel, but it shifts automatically instead of waiting for me to press the paddle shifter. I play it on the LR tv from the dining room pc, and the wireless keyboard and mouse hasn't come in yet, so it's difficult to read everything without traveling room to room and examining every setting. I think I've tried a BMW, a Ferrari, and a McLaren and they all seem to be automatic transmission. The paddles shift too, but the cars are automatic. Can someone point me to the setting to shift by paddle shifters only, please?

Thanks!

Sounds like you have automatic shifting activated in the driving aids.
Deactivate that, but leave automatic clutch on, and see what happens.

I used top play when the Xbox controller settings were good... sadly.. they botched them and haven't played in awhile. If you can't get your question answered here, you should check out their official forums and ask around.

Just got my k/b and mouse in today, so I'll be able to mess around with settings easier. I didn't even know there was a driving aids area in the settings! On real life cars with paddle gearboxes, do they have to use a clutch to shift? I want this as realistic as possible (without shelling out for a McLaren).

Depends on the gearbox.
The game has some cars with pneumatic sequiential boxes, in some of the formula cars, where usually you have a hand-operated clutch, while the McLaren/458 all have automatic clutches, so you won't have to worry about those.
With the sequential boxes, you only need to worry about the clutch when getting going from a standstill.
