I'm planning to purchase a laptop since I have a 300 dollar discount on sony products. why not spend it on a laptop. Could anyone give me some experiences with their Sony laptops?

1) Battery life
2) Built Quality
3) Any other problems I should keep an eye on
4) should I purchase the extended warranty?
5) anything else you could think of.

Appreciate any help and suggestions. Please do not say Get a Dell, HP, IBM, etc... I dont have any discount on those brand names.

From my experience with Sony, no way!

When I work at Micro Center, I was chewed out by angry Sony laptop owners all the time. They love the display, but they couldn't understand why their laptops wouldn't turn off, etc Some came back with bad hard drives in less than month, etc..This was 3 years ago, but also according to 2002 PCWorld report, Sony only got a D rating for reliablity, customer service, etc. I think IBM and Apple came on top with A ratings.
