Anyone here own an LG VX4400 phone

ok, first the question

if you take the battery off and look at it, there is a circle between the two sets of gold contacts.
on your phone, is this circle red?

My 1 yr old son walked off with my phone and I found him in the bathroom, standing next to the toilet with a big sh!t eating grin. I wonder what the heck is going on, and proceed to pick him up. I notice his hands are wet, so I figure he must have been playing in the toilet. Just to be sure, I check to see if there is "clean" or "dirty" water in there. And to my surprise, I see my phone at the bottom.

My first thought is, OH CRAP, that thing has a lithium battery, which are notorious for violently exploding when shorted. So I grab him and run out of the room. I return and gently remove the phone. Luckily, no explosion. Interestingly enough, the phone is still lit up, but the display is blank.
I decided to vacuuming the water out of it, which worked with a decent amount of success. After waiting a bit, I decided to install the battery and try to turn the phone on. NO GO

I assume the red is there to show that a fuse in the battery has blown. anyone know?

let your phone dry out completely before attempting to power it up. you don't want to short circuit anything. let it sit a day or 2.

Definitely let it sit.

I let mine sit for 5 days after running it through the wash & although it worked there was still water behind the screen.

Took about a week and a half for all traces of water to be gone.

Mine survived a full wash cycle with liquid fabric softener, I think a toilet is practically inviting compared to that.

Unless the toilet was occupied at the time...

I've read that if you put a cell phone that's been dropped in water in a zip lock bag with rice the rice will suck up the moisture. It's worth a try.

//DOH :Q

I deopped my phone in water, it didn't power up after I left it for a short while, but going back to it a day or so later (IIRC), it worked fine.
Just give it more time (and yes, mine was on when I dropped it, and the screen was blank, but it was still powered, and when I tried to turn it on after a short while, it wouldn't work at all, same as yours).
Panasonic GD87 Li-Ion battery too.

i dropped mine in a muddy puddle and it got soaked. put in front of dhumid and it got all the water gone.

now i gotta call verizon and get insurance on it.
