Anyone here own a treadmill?

My folks are considering a purchase of a treadmill for their use at home and the only factor seems to be how much of a dent is this going to put on their electric bill. I've never used one at home (I go to the gym or run outside). Does anyone here have one at home and noticed how big of an increase their bill was (figure an hour's usage per day)? Their reasoning is if its going to cost more than a gym membership, they'd rather do that than buy a treadmill themselves.
 
i have one...i dont think it does much...it doesent use that much power...my family uses it for a little over an hour per day.
 
What the hell??? Running a refridgerator is going to cost less than a gym membership.

Treadmills don't use much electricty. I think they'll be OK.

The horsepower of the treadmill motor is more than double than that of a fridge. I guess a fridge is contantly on so that wouldn't a right comparison. In anycase, if its like a 20 dollar increase per month than its okay by them.
 
we have a new vision t9200 with the deluxe console....great treadmill and our electric bill hasnt gone up enough we notice it.....I think its less than 5 bucks and my wife uses it twice a day for an hour each time..... check our site for more info about treadmills http://www.tctechbytes.com/treadmills.htm it is a very good article my wife wrote about our search and her research from other sites like treadmill doctor.com and her thoughts on what she found out. We paid 1500 for ours and its worth every penny!
