Anyone here own a RX-8?

How is the mid range? Car and Driver says it is weak, Edmunds says it is ok so I am kinda confused here.

Thanks

From what you've said of C&D and Edmunds I'd imagine it's not too good. Not very difficult to figure out? I bet it's still a blast to drive though.

hint: don't buy a car based on reviews you've read. go drive them.

Test drive it and check yourself. 🙂

I saw a blue one on the road today, a red and yellow the other day.. Blue is definately the best color. 😀

Sorry I should have posted that I am going to test drive one, but I can't get to the dealer till next week. I just wanted to see if anyone had first hand experiance driving one.

I test drove one.... too much turbo lag. That's why the midrange is weak.
You get around it by shifting at higher rpm's, and the handling's surprisingly good.
If you can afford it (and the insurance bill that will come with it), get one.

Uhhhhhh... the car doesn't have a turbo. 😕

Ok are you thinking of the 3rd gen Rx 7's? The RX 8 do not have a turbo.

edit for poor grammer.

lol
A person who obviously has no clue wtf he's talking about 😉

I hate people who read magazines and says this and this is slow, I remember a bunch of people saying how the S2k was slow etc..

Unless you have DRIVEN ONE yourself PLEASE STFU.

I think it's a little kid trying to act like he's all growed up. Awwww...that's cute.

Once his mortgage is up in about three years, my dad plans on getting one. From his TD experience, it sure sounds like it's a helluva ride. 🙂

He also has aspirations of aftermarket turbo. 😉

lol, even if there was turbo lag the midrange wouldn't be weak, turbo lag would be mean the lowrange is weak.

I think he was saying if you shift at higher rpm then your upshift will put you in a higher rpm thereby keeping you out of midrange.

Maybe he thought there was too much turbo lag because he kept waiting and waiting for the turbo to spool, but it never did. 😉😛
