I can appreciate a nice pair of shoes even for a high price.. I own a few pairs of Eccos and a few pairs from Rockport and Earth (not very expensive but nice). The most I ever paid for footwear were my Ecco Track II boots.. but a pair of Mephisto shoes goes as high as $433.95 on Zappos!
I've been eyeing the Mephisto Storm shoes for quite some time now... I keep thinking about taking advantage of Zappos free shipping & returns just to try them on

Anyone own a pair? Are they worth it?

A friend of mine says they are the most comfortable shoes ever made. Maybe you could stop by a store and try a pair on. I would have a hard time justifying paying their prices, but I'm not made of money.

Well, I am in CT right now, pretty close to NYC.. I guess there there must be a store around here that carries them. Back home in Virginia I couldn't find them anywhere.
Dunno why I didn't think of that before

I tried on a pair of their "Match" shoes/sneakers because my friend has a pair that he wears. They are claimed to be their best selling shoe, I'm not really sure though.
They didn't feel any different than a pair of New Balance sneakers. I can't see any justification for the price beyond wanting to wear a label.

That's what I was thinking.. I can't see how they are worth so much, but I've never tried them. On their website they say Nordstrom carries them. Last time I was in a Nordstrom I only saw the dress shoes.. they didn't have the casual ones that I'm looking for. But there are several stores listed around where I am.. I guess I will give them a call and see if they have them before I go.

They should have a store near you. They have a store in Tallahassee, which is near me.
One of the most comfortable shoes I've had was a Dexter, which are fairly cheap by comparison.

I don't know. Personally I think it's all about the label. There is no way thoes sneakers are worth the price they are asking for them. They don't have any magical properties that any other quality sneaker doesn't have.
It's all in the owners head.
