Anyone here own a Mac? Question about a stick of memory I recieved!

What does your memory sticks look like?

Do they say MAC on them?

I won a auction on Ebay for a stick of PC 133 SDRAM (512) and it FINALLY showed up on Sat. This morning I plug it in and the computer just beeps at me. The RAM doesn't look anything like the other sticks I have in my box (it doesn't look anything like ANY sticks I have or have EVER had). The chips are covered on both sides with a brass colored metal shield, and on the bar code sticker that is on the shield it says Mac 512m SD PC133.

Is this mac ram?

It stated in the auction that the memory I was bidding on would NOT work in Mac's.

Is Mac ram worth more than PC ram?

It took this guy over 2 weeks to send me the memory, and I really don't want to have to send it back and deal with waiting ANOTHER two weeks (plus the time it takes to get to HIM) to get the RIGHT stick!!
I would rather sell it on the FS/FT forum and not deal with this jerk again?

Anyone know what this stick is?
 
Yup, macs use standard ram. Apple did release a firmware update on a bunch of machines that caused some 3rd party memory not to work. But that was only memory that did not follow the standards or something like that.
 
Tried it in my other box (Abit VP 6 with dual 750's @825) still nothing, and on this board it would be running at less than 133 so it's not a over clocking issue.
 
Try it as the only stick in either your MAC or your PC and see if it works. If not, it's probably a dead stick and your out the money.. 🙁
 
I don't have a Mac, they are both PC's.

I think I got a bad stick. Guess I'll have to send it back. 🙁

(a month later... I MIGHT get a stick that works!)
