I am looking to invest in some type of treadmill for my home use. I was a member of 24 Hour Fitness but I rarely used my membership and if I did use it I only used the treadmills. I am thinking about purchasing a treadmill for home use. Does anyone here have one that they use at home? If so, how do you like it? What brand is it? How long have you had it and do would you recommend it?

How are you going to use it? Walking or running? Twenty minute sessions or training for a marathon?

What is your budget?

I picked up this one last summer for around $1700 from Omni Fitness:
Trimline T360

It holds up well to the pounding of my 215 lbs but I rarely run more than 2-3 miles and use it fairly infrequently (treadmills bore me and I'd rather run outside). My wife, on the other hand, uses it 5+ times a week, for an hour at a time. Overall, we're quite satisfied with it.

If you are doing serious training, I've heard good things about Landice. I have a coworker who runs marathons at a 3 hour pace and he just bought one. Not sure which model, though.

Where I live it's 90+ degrees and muggy as sh!t 3-4 months out of the year, and 20 degrees or (much)colder for an additional 3-4 months. That's somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of the year I have no desire to be running/walking outside.

It's nice being able to walk downstairs, plop a television series on DVD in the dvd player, hit the play button, and catch up on shows while I exercise for 40 minutes.

This month is the first season of 24. Next month I'll start on the first season of Sopranos.

Season DVD's have been the single best thing for my exercising :) Those and a treadmill make for the best exercise compliance I've had in years.
