Alright, I'm planning on getting my wife an IS250, what do you owners think about it? I REALLY like the car and 200+ HP is just fine for my wife (she definitely doesn't need the IS350). I was planning to get Premium + Nav package. I was also looking to get the G-Spider wheels but I'm not sure exactly what they look like. I saw a model at the dealer and I really liked the wheels, but the sticker just showed "alloy wheels" as the description and was wondering if they were the G-Spider wheels. Anyone have any pics of the wheels so I can verify if it is in fact what I saw at the dealer?

I got my wife the LS460 L and she loves it, so assume the IS will be just as good. IMHO get the 350 for HP becuase when you get behind the wheel its need to be fun for you also.

I agree that the 250 is probably a good car for her, but I'm not sure that saying a BMW or Infiniti will be more fun, have you driven the 350? I test drove it once, and then had to go back again because it was so enjoyable.
I've driven all sorts of cars and for the price, I'm not sure either brand will give you much more with their current models than you get with the Lexus. If you had a specific car from each brand you were thinking of, let me know which, and I can give you a more detailed response.

As for the OP, the 250 is a good choice and like any Toyota, it'll last a long while and won't need much work other than regular oil changes. It's a pretty simple purchase, IMO, you won't be tossed 50 options when buying it either, the navigation and premium package is as detailed as it'll get.
Thanks for all the input guys. For the price, I just don't see any other car that I like as much as the IS250. And she absolutely loves it. I think I should be able to get the car with the options I want (and I decided no G-Spider wheels) for about ~$35K. We both went to the dealer today just to check out what the dealers had in stock, and there were barely any '07s left on the lot. I guess they are getting ready for the 08s. But like I said, $35K is my mark. We'll see what the sales guys will do for me. But it looks like I'll have to wait on the '08s anyway (should be in September).

Ok the Camry V6 is fast I agree. I've test driven both the IS and the Camry V6 and while the Camry V6 is a practical car and I would like one too simply because I can carry people and cargo if necessary and still have plenty of room, but the IS is just sexy. Is it worth the extra $10k? Maybe not, but then this is a luxury sport sedan not a family car. If money isn't a problem I would take the IS in a heartbeat.
Ummm, yeah, no. Camry is a way bigger car than she or I would want (The Lexus ES is more like the Camry). And I'll pay the extra $10K and get the extra style the Camry is lacking. Put a Camry next to an IS250/350 and it will look bleh. But to each his own. You take the Camry and I'll take the Lexus and we'll both be happy.

I've never been big on Acuras. Their whole line looks very average to me. The ONLY Acura I've ever liked was the NSX, but that's just a TAD out of my price range.
The other car my wife and I were considering was the G35, but I just really like everything about the 250. It's really the perfect car for her (well us, since I'd like to buy a car both her and I would be happy driving). The funny thing is, we were seriously considering a Tohoe LT. But that got thrown out the window as soon as she saw the 250. That Lexus line is pretty damn ugly. If she likes it get it, you've already set your mark at $35000.

And that's your opinion. I actually think it looks gorgeous (and I really don't like any of the other Lexus). I don't know of any other car at $35K I would rather have.
0-60 in over 7 seconds would be a total deal breaker for me, but thats just me. But I think its a nice looking car.

I drove the 250, and it drove OK. Not the kind of tossable feel and steering feedback in the corners of more sport oriented competition. Probably won't make much difference to a female driver though. My friend hated BMW 3 series, and she didn't see what the big deal about it is.
The plan is, she gets this nice driving car now, I get the bad mofo next. This car is actually hers, and I think 200+ HP is plenty for her. She's not really concerned with taking corners on two wheels and power shifting. That's my department.
My wife hates the BMW 3 series. She won't even look at them. I actually like the look of the IS250/350 more than the 3 series too, so I really can't blame her.

my friend has a IS350, my other friends have 3 series (E90 325/330) 3 is more enjoyable as far as driving goes. IS350 is much more cushy and the interior is hands down better, especially the nav vs iDrive (which is garbage). So really depends what you are looking for. As a note the backseat in the IS is frigging TINY, even smaller than the 3 series. the 08 model is supposed to have some sort of cutout and have more space. The captains seats are nice but they are so thick, but the perforated/air conditioned seats are a great feature.
So what do I drive? A Z4.
Also look at the TSX, TL and G35 as they will fit your bill. The IS is nice but as Richie mentioned, the back seats are too cramped. TL and G35 has much more room in the back if she is ever going to have any passengers (if not adult passengers, then IS should be a go)
I chose the G35 last year (06 model) over the TL (G's ride was so much better) and IS(cramped and more expensive) and have been extremely happy.

an S-Line Audi A4 is also quite a package...its hot while still being unique depending on the area you live.

One, for $40+ thousand dollars, you'd think it'd take off a little bit better than it did. My modest 140HP Civic LX sometimes pulls better than this car.
Two, my Civic handles 100x better than the Lexus, the Lexus seriously felt floaty and didn't feel firmly planted on the floor.
Three, it looks too much like a Camry...inside and out. lol
