I'm just curious.

I don't own one but I know several people who do. The company I work for has about 180 employees and there are 2 Prius cars and one Civic hybrid in the lot.

Also, my best friend owns a Civic hybrid.

Of course, you can drive in the carpool lanes in CA with only one person in the car if you own a Prius or a Civic hybrid so we have that added incentive here.

Beats me. I'd have to first know what a B18C1 is I guess.

It's the third gen Integra GS-R engine. Usually when someone takes an engine from one car and puts it in a different chassis, they call it a hybrid, but it is a purely gasoline engine.

No, that is definitely not a hybrid. In fact, I think that might be illegal here in California.

i was very close to buying the Saturn Vue Hybrid, then they had a sale (financing 0%) on the non-hybrid V6, otherwise we would have bought the hybrid

Worked with a guy on a project for 4 days and he had a Prius. Rode in it a couple of times - it was pretty neat.

1. It's a "hybrid" - just not the
birkenstock-wearing-alternative-fuel-vehicle-driving-vegan-no-meat-eating-guns-kill-people-alternative-life-style-adopting-children-fur-is-murder
kind of hybrid you're thinking of. ;)

2. Everything is illegal in the People's Republic of Kahlifornia. HEIL.

3. I have a Dodge Magnum Hybrid.
It burns gas and rubber.

swaps are often called hybrids in modder circles, who used the phrase hybrid before hippies got their priuses.

and no, it is not necessarily illegal even in CA.

Of course, it doesn't really mean jack. Much like calling a gun a gat.

Fixed.

I bought a 2007 Camry Hyrid last July.

Because it's a bigger car than the Prius or Civic, the mileage isn't as impressive; I'm averaging between 35 and 40 mpg over the first 10k miles. The combination of the four-cylander engine with the 40 hp motor give it enough pep (for me). The repeated starting and stopping of the engine in city traffic is a bit unnerving at first; otherwise it drives like a normal car. On just electric, it's extremely quiet; I have scared a number of pedestrians who didn't hear the car coming up behind them.

The worst part (so far) is that I lost most of the federal tax credit due to AMT problems.

My brother swapped a different motor into his integra. Passed smog just fine after replacing the cat and 02 sensor because it was failing the emissions test.

I had headers on a Mustang GT years ago that weren't legal for street use in CA and passed smog. Just because they didn't notice it at the smog station doesn't mean it is legal.

Sorry, I didn't realize that you are one of the idiots I referred to earlier. You're obviously very sensitive about it though.

BTW-Isn't calling someone a i love you a banable offence?
