How are they? I am thinking of getting one since these are nicely compacted, slick design and pretty cheap. How are they?

They're really just Dimensions with more corporate features and some additional configuration options that aren't important if you aren't administering 100 PCs. You'll usually pay a bit more, or sacrifices expandability.

Hmmm... I have a Dell 4400 but I think it's time I got a newer Dell. I guess I'll pass up on the Optiplex. How are the Dell 400sc?

Optiplex's are dell's business desktop's. I just got 17 gx260's here at work w/ windows XP a few months ago. I only have a problem with one of them. If i try to power it on, all it does is flash an amber light on the power button. If i open the case slightly, it powers up, as if a cable is getting pinched or something. Other than that, they're nice machines. Really compact, but most of the hardware inside is proprietary.

they are good machines. as someone else already mentioned... not much in terms of expandability. however, this is a common drawback of most smaller form factor pc's.

Can someone post a pic of Dell Optiplex or Dell 400SC PowerEdge? I just want to know how they look like.

only thing with the optiplex's is that they really are a all in one solution, meaning that adding or upgrading the video for example can be difficult

we have gx260's at work, and i wanted to do dual monitor on my system, it includes one built in vga port, via built in video, but the machine also has a agp slot, however becfause the units are so slim line, you have to get a slim line agp card to fit in there... those can be a pain to find

I work with a lot of optiplexes. We had a few problems with floppy drives in our gx110's, but only one major hw wise with the newer gx240s and 260s. We had 1 (single) power supply failure. The gx110s and 240s are lab machines at my uni, the 260s mostly belong to professors, which would account for the high number (5+) of floppy drive failures.

I've got a GX260 mid-tower model - it's a great system, stable as heck and quiet too, and the case is great. Adding cards is a 2-minute process, tops, and personally I feel that there's plenty of room in the case. But maybe that's just me.
