because the Rev C, 800MHZ, HT cpu's are coming in the following weeks
Ever since I figured out that I do not now, and probably never will start crapping gold bricks - I've been in search of the best bang for my buck with technology. This is particularly true with processors where things change so very quickly. I used to buy Intel when that was what you HAD to buy if you wanted good performance. As soon as AMD started offering comparable performance at DRASTICALLY reduced prices I bailed out of the Intel express and I will never go back so long as I can get the best bang for my buck with AMD - AND get the performance I want.

If Intel processors offered 2X the performance at 2X the price, I could understand that dynamic. I cannot however understand 2X the cost for a 2% performance delta. Yeah, yeah, I know the P4 is better for video editing, but that doesn't justify the price premium in my mind.

Gone are the days when I'd pay $900 JUST for the processor, then another $140 for the mobo. Things have scaled back from that slightly in the Intel camp, but I'm still not paying $600-$700 for the latest and greatest processor any longer. I know there are those who still will, but I have reached the point in my life where I am paying attention to the law of diminishing returns where my technology dollars are concerned.
