Is there anyone here that manages/supports/oversees more than 20 daily use laptops?

I am curious what the real world lifespan of a 6 or 9 cell laptop battery is. Particularly, one that runs on battery all day and charges at night.

If anyone has this type of exposure/experience, let me know. Would also be interested in the environment the laptop runs in.

Thanks!

General office environment use as you describe will require the replacement of batteries somewhere between the 2 to 3 year mark, depending upon usage.

I would say that's about right. My old 12" Powerbook I used as my main computer for 3 years. Using at a desk, taking it everywhere with me, draining the battery several times a week. And I can 100% say that after 3 years I noticed the battery charge start decrease rapidly. Now over 4 years later it wont hold more then like a 20 minute charge.

I believe this is true of all laptop batteries.

my current acer 5920 (has gma x3100, not 8600gt) gets 6hr of battery life with the 8cell stock battery in vista using power savings, 40% brightness, wifi off. 5hrs with wifi on and browsing. 2.5-3.5hrs while doing heavy cpu/graphical stuff.
