I have to do an interview paper for history, and it needs to be about the Vietnam era. I'm looking for someone to interview 🙂
Interview is about the war, civil rights, etc.

Not many veterans will be willing to talk about the war itself. They may be quite willing to talk about other things during that time though. I know my father does not talk about the war at all. My mom has gotten bits & pieces about his time there but it's taken 36 years of marriage for her to glean that much.
Hell, I can't even get him to order replacements for his campaign ribbons & other medals for a family history (he claims to have thrown them in a rice paddy before coming back stateside).

my father is just now doing it. I think it took the death of his best friend (my uncle) who did it before he died.
they are finally accepting what happened and how they were treated by people back home.
he has not told me much about what happened. for years he claimed he was discharged from the army before the war. found out about a year ago that was not true. that he spent 2 tours there.

LOL just go down the local vetrand post. I gurandangtee you that there is at least 15 people that are sitting around waiting to tell you about the good ol' days and that war over there. (They may get confused on which war if they havent taken their meds)
Wait do you need someone that went to the war? And do you go to a University or is this a high school thing.

In this thread he says that he served in Vietnam.

How to earn a good grade: Interview someone with an interesting story to tell. Interviewing someone who wasn't very much affected by the, say, civil rights movement doesn't make for a very exciting paper.

Oh, I found my dad's discharge papers when I was still in HS. I made the mistake of asking him about them and they disappeared. The only thing he ever told me about that time was breaking a war protester's nose when he got back because the protester spit on him.
