Since there are a few Indian/Pakistani people on the board, I figure atleast some of you must listen to Indian classical and/or fusion music. I'm sure some of the non-Indians/Pakistanis listen to it.

If so, wat are some of your favs?

I'm currently hooked on "Durde Ke Rishte" by Hariharan and Zakir Hussien as well as tabla music by Swapan Chaudari.

For those who haven't listented to this, you should try listening to music by Zakir hussain, Swapan Chaudari, Ravi Shankar, Shakti (a band with John McLaughlin and Zakir), Nitin Swaheny, Talvin Singh, etc.. (those last two are fusion musicians).

It's some nice & different music that I'm sure many of you may enjoy.

I like raga, particularly sitar master Shafatullah Khan. It's great to just relax and daydream to.
I have a Shakti album and that's also very good.

I am also a big fan of Mantra Girl which isn't really classical or Indian/Pakistani, but it is traditional yogic chants set to modern music. It's really good. And Erin Kamler is rather attractive. Mantra Girl

Edit: Their website is back up...

I don't listen to the classical stuff, but I do like Talvin Singh and Karsh Kale, who is a tabla/electronic artist.

Yeah Shakti is great.

JZero, thanks for hte input..I've never heard of them.

TGG: Colonial Cousins is good, but I havent heard their new stuff in a while.

You guys should check out the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Nitin Swahey, Karshe Kale, and Badmarsh & Shri. All fusion music, its pretty good..very relaxing.

Also check out the Rhydum album...its fusion as well..altho I dunnno if you can find that on the net. I bought the cd in India for 300Rs (pretty expensive considering other cds ther are 99Rs).
