I'm one lazy guy and I never liked doing the lawn which is the reason why my sister got lawn service.
$30 every week.
So she moved out last month and before she moved out, I asked her to cancel the lawn service.
She was like, "whos gonna cut the grass now ?".
"I am."
She snickered at me, telling me I never cut the grass before and I won't be doing that now.
Shes like "you can't afford $120 a month for grass ??"
"Hell frickin NO". Not that I can't afford it, I think its a big waste of money.

I had doubts myself.
So I went out and spent $200 for a lawn mower and $50 for an edger/timmer.
Its been a month but whenever the grass are tall, all I can think about is mowing the grass on a day off.

Is this strange ??
Any of you actually like doing your lawn ??
Will the fascination continue ??
I guess the thought of me spending money on mowing equipments make me wanting to use them for a purpose.
I wonder how long my love for doing lawns will last.

My dad likes cutting the grass. He neglects everything else... trees, bushes, trim on the house, etc.

I despise it. We even have a several thousand dollar zero-point turn mower, and it's still a pain.

My parent's house has been zero lot line. Every college apartment/condo has not required me to do lawn service, except for one, where I paid my roomate $20 to do it for me when it was my turn. I actually have no idea how to operate a lawnmower (or any of that equipment). As the Mexicans in the real estate thread did, I "leave that for the professionals"

A whole month?

Talk to me after about 25 years of brutally hot summers and we will see if you are quite as chipper about heading out to mow the grass. Luckily we have a winter, and only have to mow about 5-6 months of the year.

I have the same problem with the hill and the push mower :(

I got an electric one for free and that is not as bad, but the push one is so gratifying. You get the nice chopping sound whenever you use it.

LIKE it? Fuck no. I HATE it...BUT, I refuse to hire Mexicans to do my work, so that leaves me to do it, like it or not.

Thats what I say.
Sometimes, around 9am in the morning and I hear the loud noise out in the yard and I'm like.."fvck, I need more sleep".
And at times, the lawn has barely grown and hes back again.
Its a waste of money but it wasn't my money.

Anyway, I got the bills from him a few days ago and its for $120 for June but I ain't gonna pay it.
Its in my sister's name and she moved out of state.
I'm gonna have 1 angry Mexican looking to collect his money.

But his family then go hungry in Tijuana!

With 100 degree summers the grass dries up after spring for the most part. Meaning I mow about once a month. And I usually just mow the few weeds that are left.

The lawn is the worst invention ever! People bitch about high gas prices yet they still buy gas to cut the grass (they complain about cutting the grass too!) Such a worthless idea. In Minnesota I notice that nothing can live in the grass except mosquitoes. Why not just have bushes and trees where things can live in and you don't have to do shit to care for it. This culture is a little screwed up in the head.

I don't know, I guess I'm kinda in the middle. I used to be an avid gardener and with my new house I really haven't done much to the existing beds, but leave them as is. So, the lawn and the meager beds are all I have.
I have all the toys, ZTR (for a smallish lot), stick edger, weed whip, blower, etc. I put on my headphones and my booney and kinda zone out. But, it probably doesn't take me more than 40 minutes to do it all.

No - I hate the heat and have bad allergies to grass. So, we spend the $120/month to get our grass cut -- I love coming home to freshly cut grass without having to worry about it.

However, I do LOVE snow-blowing -- so I can see how you might have the fascination with mowing if you don't mind heat/grass.

I hate mowing the lawn. Dust gets everywhere and it clings to your sweat and mucus. You end up sneezing black for hours after you finish.

I like it. I like landscaping and having a nice lawn. Just bought a reel mower and can't wait to use it.

I hate cutting grass and doing yard work. I also don't have the time to do it. $320/ a month for 1/2 acre. I've had the service for 2 years, and I don't see myself cutting the grass, trimming, and edging anytime soon.
