Anyone here like System of a Down?

A coworker of mine loaned me the "Toxicity" and "Steal this album" CDs. Both albums are really good, some of their songs kind of have a political message but its not preachy. I think my favorite song by SOAD is probably "Mr Jack", the last 30 seconds or so kick a$$.

Anyone else out there like these guys?

Hell ya man. I have both of those CDs and they rock. Really gets you pummped up. I like their messages, Mr Jack is great and so is Prision Song.

Have you heard their very first CD? Is it good as the other two?

Haven't heard it, only found out about them once they became "popular"

I don't know what it is, but their music just doesn't flow to me. It seems so random and I can't get in to it

I hated System of a Down when it was on the radio, but I got the CD's recently, and I like it a lot now.

The lead singer's funny Middle Eastern accent used to annoy me, but now I think it gives the music character.

They need to get of their political message though, which is laugh-out-loud silly.

I liked the first cd. It's been a long time since I listened to it (I actually had it right after it came out). Spiders is probably my favorite track. I also saw them live at Ozzfest '99 and they had a good set.

Haven't really listened to the last two albums that much, outside of a handful of songs. I like them, but I've just drifted away from heavier music in the last few years.

their first CD is very goog also, i was into them with their first cd

kinda bummed from a few years back - i had the opportunity to meet SOAD and hang out with them...i passed the opportunity cause i thought they sucked
(watched the show, they sucked...they didn't even have an album out yet)

I've got Toxicity. It's ok. I think the prison song is so bad, it's funny. Of course, my favorite song is Arieals. But overall their political stance reminds me a lot of RATM, which I hated.

I too am not thrilled with the political injection into their songs..

but the music is pretty cool.. the singing is hard to describe. The best way I heard the band described though is "quirky"

After I saw them at Ozzfest I got a couple of their CDs.

Their music is ok, their ideology is stupid. They are making a big deal out of something that happened 90+ years ago. Stupid haters.

Horrible band. Except for that Pogo song, which I like. The rest is just crap to me.

I recommend you listen to Mr Jack

Much much better.

I think I'm too old (though I still like a lot of thrash/hardcore), because I find their music painful, their strange broken-English lyrics completely incoherent, and their preachiness a little hard to take (though I suspect I agree with them on a lot of things). I remember being a little stunned that Chop Suey was not a joke when it emerged as a single, because it seemed almost comically dreadful.
