I heard one of their songs on the radio and I downloaded a couple of their songs. I like them so much I plan to go out and buy their CDs. I was wondering what you guys thought of their CDs. What CDs can you recommend? I really like yellow and in my place, but I see that they are on seperate CDs. Any suggestions?

To me, Parachutes is MUCH better then A Rush of Blood to the Head, but that's just my opinion.

Missed out on getting tickets for their show here locally (just started a new job so funds are scarce).

Have you heard that String Quartet Tribute to Cold Play? Awesome!

I'll agree that they are a very very good band and probably deserving of those Grammy nominations...but personally I think they've overstayed their welcome. THey get overplayed SO DAMN MUCH on the radio.

Blame ClearChannel for that. To be honest I can't see how anyone can stand listening to most radio stations.

Coldplay is great. One of my favorite bands for sure. Both albums are superb, and if you get *really* into them, look for the early EPs and singles. In particular I highly recommend the Blue Room EP and the Brothers and Sisters EP--not a bad song on 'em (or on the LPs, truthfully).

I listened to Parachutes so much back in late 2000 that it's now permanently associated with that time in my life. The songs are appropriate too--very somber, somewhat depressing, but soothing at the same time. It's the perfect winter album.

Rush of Blood to the Head is much more upbeat. More of a summer album (although that just may be my associating it with the time I played it most). Rocks harder but still has that "je ne sais quoi" Coldplay magic touch to it.

Anyway, given the time of year I would say start off with Parachutes or the Brothers and Sisters EP.

100% agree. bought parachutes during a winter period and rush of blood during a summer period. they seem to fit. i'm listening to clocks now, i can just think of cruising on the highway with the a/c blasting.

No that would be John Mayer... but it's not really accurate anyway. Just one of those catchphrases haters like to throw around.

They are good. The CD with yellow/trouble is really great (Parachutes is the name), and their most recent CD is even better IMO. The thing abso-f**kin-lutely rocks my world. Clocks is my favorite track (when I first heard it on the radio about 5 seconds in it immediately caught my attention and I knew I had to find out what song it was. Then the guy started singing and I knew it was coldplay and was like "oh baby"), but the whole thing is badASS.

EDIT: Just to make sure I got my point across either of those two albums is a sure-fire win. My favorite track from the Parachutes album is in actual fact Parachutes.

They are a little light for my tastes... so light in fact that you have to put your hand on their CDs to keep them from floating away...

I LOVE the band and all their songs. However, Im beginning to dislike Clocks because I hear it like 10 times a day on the radio. I have most of their second album and love most of the songs. When I first first heard Yellow on the radio back in the day, I was like "what kind of POS band is this?" They grew on me FAST and I started listening to them more and more. Theyve got some nice soothing tunes

That's funny. I've always associated Parachutes as a winter-type album as well. Never really thought of Rush of Blood to the Head as a summer album, but I love it just the same. They're definitely one of my favorite bands.
