A kid I knew from High School IMed a few weeks asking if I wanted to go to a concert here on campus if he paid for my ticket. It was some guy named Matt Nathanson, of whom I have no knowledge. He said it was basic John mayer/Howie Day/typical college rock stuff, so I said sure.
The concert was last night, and I gotta say, I was impressed. The opener, a women by the name of Charlotte Martin, was pretty good. She's a good pianist and has a great voice. Not too tough on the eyes either. 🙂 She and her bongo-playing drummer were dressed up which was pretty cool. She played for about half an hour, which was pretty cool. Then Matt Nathanson came out. I thought it would just be him and his guitar, but nope, he has a band. He plays a 12-string guitar, which suitably impressed me. He and his band were in costume as well; he, the bassist and the drummer were dressed as women, complete with boas and wigs. The guitarist was dressed as a convict. Silly guys. Anyway, they played for a few hours, and damn did they rock! He's damn funny too. Does a good Dave Matthews impression 🙂 Anyway, I just thought they were pretty cool and was wondering just how many people knew about him. Apparently he did the title track to American Wedding, which I have yet to see, so he must be pretty popular.
