Anyone here know anything about the difference in birth control pills and why one is perscribed over another?

Why do some people take Ortho-Tricyclene, others Ortho-Novum, others Ortho-Lo.

Why are there so many different kinds?

I'm pretty sure they have different levels of certain hormones and women's bodies react differently to each one.

All I know is if it means you won't reproduce I'm all for it.

Then again, I don't think we need to worry about that with you.

Some have stronger or weaker levels of certain hormones, and others react differently. For instance most pills decrease a woman's sex drive. There is at least one that doesn't have much of this effect, but on the other hand can increase the chances for blood clots.

But do the different amounts of hormones change their effectiveness?

No.

Not as long as they're getting a proper dosage.

My girlfriend was switched to a different pill, and the dosage wasn't enough.. causing her to constantly spot, so she had to go to yet another different one.. lol
