Anyone here into LEGO Mindstorms?

I just ordered set from https://www.etoys.com/prod/software/53540861 so im gonna start playing with it, seems like something fun. anyone here into this?

i dont own em, but have been trying to get em since they started beta testing about 2 yrs ago. my cuz has them, they work great, the interface is spectacular, just eats thru batterys like any electronic device., there's also the expansion packs.. . more motors, a few additional sensors.. if you like robotics, its a start. One guy had made a copy machine rig with them

I was wondering how do all the parts interact? like the motors and censors, do u gotta run wires to everything?

well it includes lego blocks with wires to the big yellow thingy, but from that to the pc is an IR interface, to program it, or they sell a remote which bypass's the program,and you can trigger the motors thru the yellow thingy. i once made control unit with 4 outputs and reversible control, but i didn't design it well, and the motors would get loaded down..

I have the mindstorms kit. Doesn't get used as much as it ought to, but thanks for reminding me to break it out.
