Absolutely as I value my hearing and I've compared and made adjustments so what gets sent to my ears is exactly what I'm supposed to be hearing. Live music on a cruise ship.

I sung this in our lounge a few days ago while plugged. Gotta work on those esse's though. 😱

just about everyone uses iem's for monitor mix now, i thought you meant when you are mixing at foh. like, being the sound guy. not a person on stage.

how is working on a cruse ship? i have been contacted about getting a stage management/ lighting tech / design gig with C-deck, they did not tell me what line was looking though. btw nice job on the singing.

I wouldn't trade it for the world. 🙂

It's definitely not for everyone though. I could make 10x the $ working ashore but honestly I don't really care about that. Before I got into this I had no family or friends and now everyone here is family. 😀

I know there's a lot of Celine haters out there but that's sooo hard to do. I bow to her but I can do something she definitely cannot: fix my rig when it breaks!

Not bad! That high Eflat after the key change is pretty tough to do! I didn't find the sibilance to be too distracting. Although, I might prefer a little bit less in the 220-500hz and more in the 800hz-4khz range.

How long did it take for you to get used to that "plugging ears/pressure feeling" that are characteristic of IEMs (or noise isolation foam for that matter)?

I tried IEMs for a couple months and couldnt ever get over the feeling, kinda like having a headcold where there is pressure, a similar feeling when walking into an anechoic chamber.

Can't complain at 43! 😀

As long as something is coming down the wire it's all good. I cannot leave them in for long with no signal though. Custom molds are the way to go however. Everything else is a compromise.

So just to update; My setup has changed quite a bit....

I am now using a Little Dot II+ (Directly Heated Triode Tube Amp) w/ EF92's (CV131) paired with a Sennheiser HD580 (pre-modded)

Wow... This sounds SUPERB! Not as much bass as my DT770, but so unbelievably more sweet and warm. I like the presentation much more than my old HD595 as well, it feels more balanced and cleaner (didn't think I would notice a diff)

I got a LDII++ but my Pioneer (~1994ish) receiver although has a staticy sound whereas the LDII++ has no static and very clear but not enough power to drive my DT770 250s.

With Amperex driver or stock Ediswans and russian Uly power tubes.

I have:
Ety ER-4P's (airplanes mostly)
Modded M-Audio Revo 7.1 (upgraded caps and op-amp) -> Corda HA-1 MkI -> Sennheiser HD-580 for my apartment (what is this about an HD-580 mod?)
Grado HF-1 for the office ("special" SR-225's made with wood housings or something, specifically for head-fi)

I also have Beyer DT531's (actually I forget what they model number is... they used to be known as the "groovalizers" at head-fi) which I use at home sometimes.

I haven't bought a pair headphones in a long time. I felt like I sort of reached a point where things sounded "good enough" and that it was time to spend money on other things (like speakers, cameras, etc.). I could use an amp at work with my HF-1's, but I don't want to spend very much for one.

I also bought my brother DT770's which he uses for DJing.

I have way tooo many headphones to list but I will tell y'all my favs.

Mdr-V6 (not 7506) have em over 20 years. still sound great
Denon AHD-750 Almost as old as my V6! Very simular sound but not as bright as the V6
Denon AHD-650 for portable quality sound from my ipod or Archos
Sennheiser 465 and 485 both sound great, one is larger than the other, most comfy cans except in the summer cuz my ears sweat.
MDR-V700DJ Yes, everyone hates em, yes, they break (on my second set) but these are for cranking bass and drum music to 11! These babys take a pounding and just dont blow out!
MDR-V900HD Yes, everyone hates these too but for stage monitoring and classical music these babies will let you hear every nuance.

I have many higher priced cans but the list above are the ones I use the most. I have around 20 different Sennheisers including the 5XX series and while they are all great in there ways I just dont use them that much. The Sennheiser 280 Pro, IMO, are the most overated POS I ever had. Dont know why they are a fav of a lot of people but to me they sound like crap and cannot take any decent amount of bass before they clip like mad.

One can I forgot to mention was the retro looking cans from panasonic. I forget the model # but they come in green , blue, black, and white. I bought them last year for the cool "retro" look and they are suprisingly great sounding for the price. I dont use em too much because they slide too much. My 2c

Totaly agree..
Pound for pound the Grado SR 60..just plug in anywhere and you are good to go

for the price, picked mine up for $70, do you really think the hd280 pros are that bad??
-i mean considering the 590s are twice the price and 595s nearly 4 times the price.
and I've heard the grado sr60's praises , but if you aren't looking for an open set.

using HD650 with Equinox Classic cable for my computer, source is Auzentech Prelude with no post processing of any kind

and Shure SE530 for commuting, source is iPhone + treble boost equalizer.
