Anyone here into comic books?

So I always have loved super heros and the like since I was young. I always have appreciated comic books but have been only a very casual reader. Most time I find comics way too short and its like throwing away money because I can finish them in about 10 mins. At barnes and noble the other day I stumbled across the ultimate x men which is a series but these paper backs are just about 6 comics in 1 so its a little better on the wallet.

So that was a nice side story but what I am looking for is suggestions as to the best place to buy comics (online) also any good series I could get into (I would really appciate to start from the begining volume #1) and also any good website I could look at. Thanks!

I don't know of the best places to get comics online but you can try midtown comics. that's usually where i buy mine from cause it's a block away from my job.

if you're into x-men, you'll like the whole House of M miniseries that concluded a couple of months back. Also I like X-Men: Deadly Genesis that's going on right now but I don't think it's in paperback yet. Oh, and pick up Marvel Zombies. It's pretty funny.

Scarlet Witch goes crazy. Magneto rules the world. that's how it starts. i don't wanna spoil it any more. 🙂

Ok I trust the people of ATOT is the first book just called House of M volume 1? Also about how long of these comics, I like how the ultimate series books come they are softcover but the covers aren't as flimys as tradiotonal comics

Also if you used to follow DC's stories, check out the Infinite Crisis miniseries. Last issue comes out next month.

Basically it reintroduces elements of Crisis on Infinite Earths, then combines them back into the current DC universe.

Fairly interesting imo.

I'm liking Infinite Crisis too, but for some reason I expected it to be better so far. Superboy prime looks crazy.

My favorite DC storyline of the last 5 years has to be the Kingdom Come series. I thought it was awesome.

The same thing happened to me a couple years ago.(I'm 20 now) I've purchased graphic novels, and overall I wish I would have bought some books my library doesn't carry instead. 🙁

Have you read The Walking Dead comics yet by Robert Kirkman? That's the sole reason I got into comics, and the only graphic novels I've purchased without buyer's remorse. I love stories involving zombies, and this one is great. Currently there are 4 graphic novels out, and the 5th volume is going to be released May 31st.

My local library got around a dozen different graphic novels recently. It surprised me a lot because it's a small town library. You should check yours if you haven't already, you never know. I found the whole collection of Bone, a huge Spiderman collection, and some more independent comics. Bone is an amazing comic, and it will take you a long time to get through it all. Also, though I haven't gotten to read any of them yet, Neil Gaiman has quite a few different graphic novels out that sound good. He's the author of Neverwhere, American Gods, Anansi Boys, etc.

i never really got into comics but recently i've been reading some books that had comics spawned from them. most notably is Conan and other comics base don Robert E. Howard's work. i have a few i got from ebay and waiting for them to come.

its more about collecting the stuff than it about reading it to me.

Kingdom Come was good, I agree. Hated The Kingdom though.

As for SB Prime....he's insane! I expect him to kill off half the current DC cast. 🙁

I haven't really followed DC recently but always preferred DC to Marvel.

Oh, and Watchmen is the best comic ever, next to Planetary.
