Anyone here into bodybuilding?

Bodybuilding.com is a decent site for beginners; the key would be to research a bit and then pose your questions.

That site is big on supplements, but has a good amount of beginners and I am sure you can get some useful info on basic strategies.

To give some encouragement, for most people, with the right knowledge and tools, losing weight is a very achievable goal... it will take some effort, but consistency with moderate effort is likely to be more effective than busting your ass for a short period of time.

ie, hitting the gym a few times a week, while understanding some basic principles of nutrition that are followed most of the time, will be enough for most people to remain fairly lean. (not bber lean but a good size for their height/phenotype)

true dat. I can't ever seem to stick with a routine for more than 2 weeks. And my arms never get any bigger. Damn you school.

An interesting thing about stuff like bbing or anything similar is that if you've been sedentary for awhile and begin training, it is toughest in the beginning, though you feel you have no energy you must push yourself anyway, but after that initial difficult period, you will be more energetic all the time and the workouts won't be a chore.

Plus as a bber you get to bulk... I'm eating 5,000 cals right now in an effort to hit ~240 at 6' by May... can't beat stuffing yourself each day. (If you know how to make the foods tasty that is) 🙂

I started as a way to lose weight over 2 years ago. Now it is just part of the daily routine. Protein shakes, egg whites, oatmeal, chicken breasts. I have been on a ~3500cal bulk for the last 2 months and I have another month to go. After that, I will be cutting down to the lowest bodyfat I have ever been, hopefully around 12%. I am currently at 16%, 170lbs, 5'11".

Once you get started and stick with it for a few months, you get very addicted. I cannot see myself stopping weight lifting, unless I have a very bad injury.

I am also on BodyBuilding.com quite a bit, looking up routines, diets, recipes. They have a great forum.

"Shut the F**K up and train!"

Awesome, I find it a blast as well.

Be careful, I hurt my back early on deadlifting and pushing myself past the point of good form (bad bad) but that was when I was 18. 🙂

i have a few friends who do the whole bodybuilding thing (shows, etc). Not me though, i'm fine with only working out.
