Anyone here in the medical field?

I've been thinking of moving from the IT field into a career in the medical profession. I'm hoping to find work with more flexible hours (part-time, etc.) and hopefully something for the first time in my life that does'nt require me to travel 2 hours just to get to the job.

So can anyone give me a few recommendations on medical jobs that a person can get into that requires a minimum of 1 year of training or less? I've been wondering about some of the technician jobs or even a job in medical equipment repair.

Thanks for any advice

Since I'm asking questions does anyone know the address for the goverment website on employment. There's a page out there maintained by the labor division I think, it basically lists thousands of different, careers, average salaries and the type of training thats needed for a particular career. I can't remember the address for the site though, anyone familiar with it?

X-Ray tech.... less than 2 years for Certificate. Dad wanted me to do that.
Nuclear Med. Tech comes to mind right away.

A "minimum of one year or less" training? You mean a maximum of one year?

That limits you to certificate and diploma programs which typically range from nine to twelve months. Not much in that area.

I've been tossing the idea of Nuclear Med Tech or MRI tech around. Seems like there are tons of jobs. Any idea what they pay??

You want to make a complete career change with only year of training?

Medical equipment repair is usually put into the hands of a biomedical engineer. At least that's how it is at the hospital I work at.

Pharmacy Tech will let you in with a year's worth of training and will allow you to work part time hours.

I work for a company and we are desperately in search of MR tech's. If you decide to go this route, let me know I can get you a jay-oh-bee. :)

We have MRI centers around the country (mostly SW PA tho). Definitely a field where you WILL get a job.
