Anyone here impressed with Diana Krall?

Just curious because I had heard of her, but never bothered to see what she sang. I hooked up with a chick a few weeks back and she introduced me to Krall... I'm impressed because I always liked the stuff Nat King Cole sang and she sings a lot of his stuff. Opinions?

Funny that you mention this, because I just recently started listening to her. Her voice is very relaxing.

"All Night Long" is my current favorite, I think.

To me she's OK but not wondrous -- the fact that she has the Blonde look down has helped her popularity immensely and I doubt she'd be half as successful without it. She's also a little too convincing when she sings "Peel Me a Grape" in the style of a spoiled brat.

But that's just me :)

No. Can't say I'm particularly impressed.

I know someone who met her though. Now who wants my autograph?

:D

You guys like jazz or you just like Krall? Lol.

She's ok. There are many many female jazz artists who don't look nearly as good as Krall and are much more talented (in music that is).;)

I'm more of a fan of Jazz. The thing I like most about her music is that it's recent....meaning, the symphony backing her up is playing at top quality. It's one of the reasons her albums beat out a lot of older ones even though the Ella Fitzgerald could eat her for breakfast. ;)

I've also heard some tracks with Linda Ronstadt and Sinatra doing duets that would make you believe in a higher power. (if you didn't already)

Then you should pick up her Live in Paris DVD. She's got a really good backup band, and the DVD has a stellar DTS track. I picked it up at Costco's for $12.

Dude, I love her. She's got an awesome voice and she's quite hot. I've got a compilation disc in my changer....never know when you're in the mood for Jazz. Oh, and to answer the skeptics I don't only like her jazz, I like all jazz in general.

If you like the older stuff (I mean like 20's-30's era) check out the Squirrel Nut Zippers, they're awesome too.

Saw her from the front row a year or so ago when she was in town.

Fabulous voice, good backup band, great stage presence.

I saw her show about 5 years ago. It was pretty good and worth the $5 tickets. However, not really my type of music and I've never heard any of her discs.
