I watched Chasing Ghosts over the weekend on Netflix and it got me wondering if anyone here holds a record with Twin Galaxies.

I don't. Do you?

I watched that a few years ago. Even though the rivalry between Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell was kind of edited into something it wasn't and the timeline of events was bullshitted for the movie, it was still pretty fucking awesome. I'm also pretty sure that Billy Mitchell is an arrogant prick, but not nearly to the degree King of Kong made him out to be.

Soxfan's #1 rule of rubes is that all men with mullets are dicks. Billy Mitchell sports the king of all mullets, and therefore must be a royal a-hole.

I can dig that as a general rule of thumb, but it doesn't explain the majority of a-hole yankees and jets fans (I'm looking at you Fireman Ed) sans mullet. I guess the lesson here is you don't need a mullet to be an a-hole.

All mullets-wearers are a-holes, but not all a-holes have mullets.

Draw your own intersecting circles if it helps ;)

When I was in grammar school, my neighbor and I exchanged the world record in Atari Dragster for about a year. We kept beating each others times.

Back then you would have to take a Polaroid picture of the screen with your score and snail-mail it to Atari. They had a monthly newsletter that came out with the record holders. Unfortunately, those were all lost when my parents moved years later.

Eventually some other kid beat our time and we were never able to top him.

Oh, fuck, I remember that. But was it a dragster game or a racing game (track went left to right with 2 or 3 lanes). All I know is I beat the time needed to win something but every time I took a picture with my mom's Polaroid it came out with a huge light blot on it. I was so pissed.

It was absolutely the drag racing game.

There was certainly an art and skill to getting a good picture.

Actually was listening to the Sam & Dave show on the Opie and Anthony channel and they were talking to someone, Steve maybe? And he said yeah, Billy is actually a bigger asshole than the movie shows.

Liked the part when he's pushing competitors' sauces to the back on a supermarket shelf and moving his own sauces to the front. :D

I just looked at some of my old Gameboy games and thought of this thread. Apparently I have a Kirby's Pinball Land game still going that has over 26 million points. Played that constantly on trips and car rides. The highest on Twin Galaxies is 7 million but I'm sure that's from obscurity.

Probably should document that before the SRAM battery dies. I have an old GB Xchanger that can backup/restore SRAM to GB carts.

I have some NES Tetris records for both versions. There is a documentary that features me and some other old-school players coming out later this year, has already premiered at a dozen or so film festivals. Fun times :)

Ok. I'm now ready for the internet fame that dominating on a children's game can bring.
