Anyone here have their tonsils out?

I had mine out on wednesday, and my god... The pain is getting worse by the day....

Question though, did you have sores on the sides of your tongue? I have these large sores on the lower side of each side of my tongue... I think it might be where they clamped my tongue down to keep it out of the way.... Is it?

Had mine done 22 years ago, so it's a little hazy for me 😉 😛.

I do remember being in the hospital for a few days afterwards because I refused to drink anything because it hurt so bad (hey, I was 8 at the time!).

My sister and I had it done at the same time and we were both on IV's after for fluids. My sister started drinking fluids before me so they were going to let her leave the hospital before me. The day she was leaving she had a vomiting fit (couldn't stop) so they made her stay and I was happy she was sick because then I didn't have to stay there by myself 😛.

I do remember it hurting for quite a while after, but the more I drank, the better it felt. Don't remember my tongue being sore though.

Oh im on some strong ass shiznit. Roxicet, which i believe is a Narcotic. They also gave me morphine the day of the surgery.

My tongue on the other hand has these large sores on them (almost look like canker sores)

Yeah that is Oxycodone. Fairly decent painkiller. I'd think the sores will go away, but I have a similar sore right now on the back of my throat. Bugging the crap out of me so I feel your pain. Hard for me to even drink water because it burns like fire. I've had that kind of stuff before and the only thing that helps is time and gargling with salt water. Good luck.

Ice cream and cool water are your friends in that kind of pain, it's been a while but I remember it.

Had them removed when I was 8, really don't remember there being much pain at all. Stayed in the hospital overnight, went home the next day and was fine.

i had my tonsils out in 1966,

it hurt,afterwards,worse than any sore throat,ever.

Lots of blood in nose,etc.

Glad your here to whine,as sometimes,people die when under anasthesia.

I had mine taken out when I was 6. I know it gets rougher in terms of recovery as you get older and have this operation.

i always request the IV and anesthesia. its just so bad ass that they can knock you out in seconds and you can be out for hours. i was knocked out twice; wisdom teeth and a foot surgery.

No biggie as far as pain....you're all wussies. What you have to worry about is the scab falling off....in some people its not too bad....unfortunately for others, when the scab comes off, it bleeds like crazy. And blood in that area is oxygen rich....so its bright, bright red. If you've ever bled for a continuous 5 minutes of bright red blood foaming from the mouth it can get kinda scary. You have much to look forward to in about 1 week.

Yer look forward to that scab falling off. And that pain is nothing. Try having a tooth put back in or having your apendix burst then you will know pain.
