Anyone here have the LG-VX8300 phone with Verizon?

My GF and I got our new phones today, and I ended up getting the VX8300. I read reviews on it before I got it and it had all of the features I wanted in a phone pretty much.

However I have a question ...

I haven't activated it yet, just charged it completely. My GF got the VX8600 and I noticed when I charged hers first, all of the featuers didn't work on her phone until it was activated. However, the VX8300 doesn't have any backlight on the keypad as of now.

So does anyone who has this phone know if it has a backlight on the keypad when it's fully functionally?

I do not want to activate the phone yet if it does not have a backlight on the keypad because it's one of those little features that would really really bug me to not have. I didn't look specifically for this feature because I figured this was a standard feature on cell phones. If it doesn't I'm going to call them and see if they will let me swap phones since I just received it today in the mail and it's not activated yet.

you should've also gotten the LG VX8600 😛

i have one and it's pretty nice.

doesn't the 8300 have an external antenna ?

Yah I'm going to get the 8600 if this one doesn't have a back light on it and they will let me return. The 8300 has everything I need and is like $80 cheaper than the then 8600.

But after using the 8600 man, that thing is slick as hell.

And yes the 8300 has an antenna on the top of it.

I don't have the phone, but my guess would be that you were using it in a well lit area and most cell phones now have tiny little light sensors on them so that the backlight will only turn on when its dark out. You should be able to find a tiny little hole somewhere near the keypad - cover it up and hit a button (or just go in a closet).
