I have found an item I'm interested in across the border but it using the 220v-240v European plug. I am wondering if this can be rewired to accept the 220 plugs we have here in the states.

My original thinking was I could just buy an adapter but I'm very iffy about that.

If someone is familiar with what I could do to make this work it would be much appreciated.

It's not just voltage that's the issue but the mains frequency. Europe uses 50hz while North America uses 60hz. So you can't just slap on a new plug and expect it to work even though the voltage is the same.

A lot of electronic devices though do support 110v 60hz and 220v 50hz. So you'd just need a plug adaptor for those. Check with the seller beforehand though.

Motors and such may require different operating frequency also.

Not just plug could be an issue.

The item I am looking at is 220v 50hz. Thanks for pointing out the different frequencies.
