im putting together a dedicated file server... two 250 gig drives in a raid array, for a half terabyte of goodness... let my friends have access to it, and have kazaa and other apps run off of it, and then a good decent newsgroup reader, to pull down anything interesting every day 🙂

thats the plan

Both of mine can be used for downloads. I use whichever has the most space at the time. I may use one for downloading while the other is burning. It really just depends.

I'm intersted in setting up a computer where it strictly downloads files. Such as demos, new patches, etc. Anyone else have a box strictly for downloads?

I have a second PC, I use it for more than just downloads but it does that type of thing when i want it to.
The good part is that you can get something really cheap, it doesnt have to be a top of the line PC.
My second one is a Dell GX110 with 256mb of ram and PIII-800mhz cpu, works just fine with Win2k Pro.

Well whenever i play MMORPGs, i'll have my gaming computer, and my other computer for stuff like emails, downloads, IMs, etc. I can sit for 10+ hours playing a game, so i need some sort of second computer for things i can't do while the other computer is being used.

WOW! 10+ hours. I wish I could game for that long. By that time my concentration has gone down the toilet.

You have to be really hardcore to play that long.
