Anyone here have a Philips Acoustic Edge sound card?

I just purchased one along with a pioneer 16x slot in dvd player. I'm having some problems with playing winamp along with copying stuff over or installing stuff from the dvd drive. Even copying stuff from harddrive to harddrive produces the same scratchy sounding effect. My old sound blaster awe64 never had this problem. Any suggestions? I'd really like to listen to my mp3s while installing or copying stuff from a cd or from harddrive to harddrive. Thanks in advance!

That would make total sense, except for the fact that philips support is horrible. I can't even find where my sound card is even listed on their products page. Unless I'm totally incompetent, I just can't find it.

I just don't understand why its not performing like all the reviews say it does.

Even anyone else has had this problem or heard about aproblem like this, please respond.

Angus: I've never had any problem locating the soundcard on thier webpage. And I've done a bunch of stuff while playing Winamp on my Acoustic Edge and haven't had any problems.

Hi angus,
I've just got an acoustic edge card too, and ran into similar problems 🙁
In addition, I get an irritating crackle whenever I play mp3s, etc.
It seems that this is a known problem with VIA chipset motherboards(I have one).Motherboard driver updates have reduced the crackle, but not eliminated it.
In your case, it is very likely that you are using the waveout plugin in winamp for your mp3s. changing it to the directsound plugin should solve the problem somewhat.. but it still means that there are bugs in the acoustic edge drivers.
Anyone else know anything about the crackle problem?
thanks,

These crackle problems excist with the Live! too. I have found it to be resolved when i changed the output from directx out to wavemapper out in Winamp, yet running a program like SETI@Home still produces crackle from time to time. Its something i learned to live with although i was hoping the AE wasnt having these problems so i could replace my live! for one.

I might still do so though. Im sick of Creative Labs.
