I'm looking to buy an indoor camera that doesn't rely on cloud storage. The Netatmo seems to fit my needs as it can record to either micro-SD, Dropbox, and FTP server. I'm more interested in the FTP server. How does that work? Can I set up one of my old laptops as a FTP server? I think this could be an elegant and cheap solution compare to its peers where I have to subscribe to expensive cloud storage. Unless you guys have a better suggestion, then I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this before Boxing Day.

$200 seems expensive.
a Hikvision 1080p camera can record to micro sd, nas, or ftp server too. for ftp, give it an address, user id/pass. every time there is motion detected, it record n dump the clip onto the ftp.
