I'm curious to know if anyone here has one of those small 4x6 only photo printers and what they thought of them. Brand and model would be nice w/ your responses :)

I have the HP Photosmart 130 and it's only good for samples or tests, not something that you'd want to archive or sell.

If you're looking to get a 4x6 photo printer, go for a dye sub rather than an inkjet. Consumables may cost more but the end results are more durable.

I've tested the Sony DPP-EX7, very expensive but good results. Also I've heard a lot of good things about Olympus' dye subs too. Not sure about the new Canon models though (CP-200 and CP-300).

I still have some pics printed by the DPP-EX7 in February this year, kept in a photo album and they are still in perfect condition with no noticeable fading. Also I've lurked in the Printers and Printing forums at
DPReview for a while reading about users' comments on dye sub's longevity and so far they're all good comments. I'm currently considering the Canon CP-200 printer to complement my i950 but cash is a bit tight for me at the moment.

I just bought the CP-200. The Win2k/XP drivers sux, even the latest ones downloaded from Canon's website! It cannot print from my WinXP Pro machine because for some reason it fails to display a list of selectable paper types. This also happens on my WinXP Home laptop.

However it works fine on my Win98SE machine! Talk about crappy driver support! :|:frown::brokenheart:

I bought a Sony DPP-SV55. I really like it. I just bought supplies for it, $34 for 75 4x6 prints. Not bad. I think with the glossy coating on top of the "print" it should last as long as any "regular" print.
