Here in the office they will be donating some old junk, including some old workstations that have very nice desktop cases, about 1U height. Did anybody try to mod one of these to fit a server motherboard and a PC power supply.
Here are some pictures of the cases:
HP-712
NeXT station 1
NeXT station 2
The quality of these cases is amazing (these workstations would cost more than $5000). They would look nice next to your TV or stereo components.
Plenty of room, but the back plate must be replaced to fit the PC ports. Are those sold separately?
I wouldn't know how to support a card on a riser/90-degree adapter.
Those NeXT are about 10 years old. I still have my 712 running non-stop for some 7 or 8 years. It's storing files from my MSc thesis from 1994! I do not have any use
for a 60MHz computer, but I opened it this week and it hurts to see such case go to trash.
Cheers,
